STYLE ICONS: BLAKE LIVELY

Hi guys!! How is spring treating you? I hope you are loving it as much as I am. For the past week I can't seem to get out of my denim shorts, white blouses, and maxi dresses and I plan to stay in this mood for as long as I can. Today I will talk to you about another of my fashion icons: Blake Lively.

Blake Lively is always chic and breathtaking in the red carpet and in her street style. I first saw Lively's style in one of my favorite series, Gossip Girl and I was fascinated. I love how she can take a pair of jeans and make it look effortless yet so stylish and don't let me forget about that hair!

For me Blake Lively is one of the most beautiful young Hollywood stars at the moment and certainly the one to watch. I'm in love with everything she wears because I can see some of my style in Blake’s. But the thing that I love seeing on her are dresses, the girl certainly knows how to wear one well. Short or long, dresses look always good on her because she has an amazing body and personality to match. Lively can go from bohemian to rocker, and that's why I like her style, because she is not afraid of change and she doesn't get stuck in one look. Another thing that I admire in Blake Lively's wardrobe is her accessories! I just love how she mixes and matches different colors and sizes of necklaces and earrings, whoever said less is more clearly didn't know Blake.

It's not just me that considers Blake Lively a 21st century fashion icon; Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour and Christian Louboutin do too. They have been seen with the young actress in many occasions and that is a big thing. You know you made it in Hollywood when you are friends with A-listers and appear in blockbusters but you know you made it in the fashion world when you are seeing with big fashion personalities like Lagerfeld, Wintour and Louboutin. You go Blake!

STYLE ICONS: MARGHERITA MISSONI

Hi guys! This post will be about another of my favorite style icons and muses: Margherita Missoni.  Margherita Missoni is the heiress and ambassador to her family's Missoni fashion house, which was founded by her grandparents, Rosita and Ottavio Missioni.

Margherita grew up in Italy and went to school in Milan and Rome and lived in Barcelona and NYC. Before she appeared in Missoni campaigns, se was the fashion house ambassador, a responsibility involving publicity at fashion related events. Missoni explained that becoming the face of Missoni as "a natural evolution."

Aside from being the heiress to the Missoni empire, Margherita is also a prominent fashion "it" girl. Margherita's style is also not what is normally seen from many heiresses, even on formal events you can see the inspiration of the bohemian and hippie in Margherita. I love her style because it reflects her personality and because she's is not afraid of having fun with what she wears, I absolutely adore her way of mixing and matching prints and colors.

Margherita inspires with her elegance because she decides to wear clothes that not only speak to her family's aesthetic but her own, something that is gradually becoming one and the same. Margherita is the definition of the Missioni brand.

WE WEAR THE PANTS

Happy Monday, spring is just around the corner! Like I said in my past blog post, I'm liking this warm weather  because it is preparing me for the beach this weekend.  Today I want to talk about an item that I'm currently loving: beach pants. I'm loving them because they are a warm weather staple and you don't have to be at the beach to rock them, just pair them with a casual top and some leather sandals and you are  ready for this season. Beach pants are so perfect for warm weather because they are light and and easy to wear. I recommend everyone to own at least a pair. Would you be purchasing them?

SPRING, YOU INSPIRE ME

I'm so happy because spring is almost here and I'm so ready for it to begin. I went shopping this week and I'm feeling so inspired with all the bright colors and prints, they go perfectly with this weather. I'm also feeling pretty ecstatic because next weekend I'm going to the beach and I'm going through the outfits that I'm going to wear over there. Right now, I'm loving maxi dresses, denim shorts and hats. What are you loving this spring?

I ❤ BALMAIN

(photo: Couture Snob)

In this blog post I will tell you about my complete obsession with Balmain. There are about a million reasons why it is one of my favorite French fashion houses of all time, one of them being that every piece is completely more gorgeous than the last. My obsession with Balmain started almost four years ago when I was flipping through the pages of a Vogue magazine and it was love at first sight.

I think Balmain caught my attention because each piece that the fashion house designs is the definition of rocker chic with a classic twist and that is totally my style. I love that Balmain also incorporates black, gold and structured pieces in every collection; they've become a synonym of the brand.

Now, let's talk about the Balmain Fall/Winter 2013 collection. My favorite pieces of the show are those famous structure jackets with big shoulders that Balmain is known for, they are to die for. I would love to have every piece in my closet. (A girl never has too many jackets, or clothes for that matter) But let's not forget about those tapered trousers, they are oh so chic and versatile. I've seen a lot of trousers these season so I have to get my hands in a couple of pairs or maybe more. OK, I have a little shopping problem. Don't judge me. Who doesn't? Another trend at the show was the primary colors: ruby red, blue and emerald. Balmain is a box full of pleasant surprises.

STYLE ICONS: AUDREY HEPBURN

Today I am introducing a new section for the blog. It is about the women and men who have influenced me through the years with their fashion and style, these are the people that pop into my mind when I think about timeless beauty and elegance. Everyday I take inspiration from their style and try to incorporate it in my everyday outfits but with my own personal touch.

The first style icon is Audrey Hepburn. Audrey is the definition of timeless fashion and sophistication and one of my favorite Golden Age movie stars. She is the True silver screen icon; her beauty and style are synonymous with 20th Century Hollywood glamour.

Givenchy designed most of the actress' own outfits, (a girl's dream) as well as those made famous by her in timeless movies such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, How to Steal a Million and Funny Face. She later stated, "His are the only clothes in which I am myself. He is far more than a couturier, he is a creator of personality."

Audrey’s movie Sabrina not only strengthened her position as one of Hollywood’s finest, but introduced her to the fashion designer to whom she would become muse and close friend -Hubert de Givenchy.

Audrey has been accredited for making famous the Little Black Dress (LBD), capri pants, ballet flats and fitted turtlenecks, and we all have to thank her for that because these pieces are classic yet chic and can't go wrong with them. Her approach to fashion is what made her unique. She always wore everything so gracefully and effortlessly that everything looked good on her and made her more beautiful. Audrey's unique beauty is what continues to inspire me. Her eyebrows (they're my idea of perfection) but her hair -- playful bangs that were anything but juvenile -- along with her big eyes molded my notion of beauty from an early age. Because of Audrey, I recognized that natural beauty and simple dressing is far lovelier than any on-trend craze. In short, I've learned to stay true to my style and myself.
